| So, this is how an exchange of e-mail went down with my Anatomy professor in regards to our final. Just so you know, this is a 200 level class. This is not graduate school or anything upperclassmen-oriented. This is a sophomore-level class.

Professor~ Do we need to memorize all of the hormones of the Hypothalamus and what hormones they stimulate in the Pituitary Glands? Do we need to memorize the functions of the hormones and their target organs? I general, how specific do we need to know those hormones? Laura.

If in class we’ve discussed the function of a hormone or the sequence of hormones necessary to carry out a particular function (e.g. Gonadotropic releasing hormone from the hypothalmus acts on the anterior pituitary, stimulating release of Leutinizing hormone that acts on the interstitial cells of the testes resulting in testosterone being released) than you are responsible for it. If we have only mentioned the name without addressing its function, what it acts on, etc. then I would consider those hormones to be of much less significance.
